medical insurance
Hi, I have submitted EOI for Vic 190 and SA 489 and have received ITA from South Australia I have three questions: 1. Since 489 is a provisional visa, do we need to buy Medical Insurance or will we be eligible for Medicare? 2. If my son wants to join any university for his under graduation.... I was browsing around and also advice from my friends say go to BUPA for health insurance. For people in 489 visa, they are classified as Overseas visitor so they need to buy from the below page. Badly, on an average the price is up by 200$.
You would need to double check with Medicare / Centrelink (as it is outside of migration as such), but my understanding is that it is still the case that 489 visa holders are not entitled to receive public health benefits and would require health insurance. There are a wide range of providers that can provide the type of health cover required.. The visa subclass 489 or the Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa, which Mr. Jijumon and his wife are on, is not covered under Medicare - Australia’s publicly funded universal healthcare system..
